Latest Updates from Our Project:

Into the Final Days!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jul 27, 2020 at 03:04:15 AM

Well, overnight you wonderful people have unlocked ANOTHER stretch goal! This time we'll be giving a free, exclusive PDF to everyone from James Craig on his approach to post-apocalyptic weathering! Thank you everyone!!!

Now we move on to the next Upgrade. When we reach this stretch goal, we'll be able to provide white wells on the Studio X Wet Palettes, improving functionality many times over.

Later today Kickstarter will send out an email to the almost 3,000 people who are following the project but haven't committed yet. We're preparing the page with some graphics explaining where we are at now and how to add the Add-Ons, so that we can smash past the white wells and add some more painting tutorials to the Freebie list!

Speaking of more, we've asked Shoshie Bauer to livestream for our next stretch goal. Shoshie will be presenting her thoughts and techniques on True Metallic Metals (TMM) and it is bound to be a great livestream. To see more of Shosie's magnificent minis, you can check out her Facebook page HERE.

We WILL record the livestream (as with the others) so that any of our backers who can't catch it live will still be able to watch it.

But that's not all!

We have the team from the Chestnut Ink blog lined up to present a detailed PDF on the way they tackle such beautiful black armor like that seen on the Black Templar Primaris Marine above! That's what we have coming after Shoshie Bauer's livestream.

Onwards and Upwards

This has been an amazing journey with you all. Thank you for your support and feedback and kind words. With another two days of promotion and bringing more people to the Studio X community, we can create something truly amazing!

Cheers

Another Stretch Goal Conquered!
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jul 26, 2020 at 07:04:09 AM

Awesome news as we enter our final days for this campaign! Welcome to everyone who has joined us recently, we are very appreciative of your support.

Early this morning we achieved another stretch goal, and now we add a wonderful, Studio X exclusive PDF on custom basing from the amazing painting Katarzyna Górska! You can find more of Katarzyna's work at her Facebook page HERE.

Next up on the list is a Studio X exclusive PDF on weathering from our friend and Studio X champion James Craig! James is an incredibly skilled painter with a voracious appetite for knowledge and a great skill at teaching art (it's his day job!)

A new Upgrade!

Last night we received some information from the factory that has allowed us to now present our latest stretch goal - white wells in the wet palette lid to make mixing washes and glazes more effective. It's going to cost us a not inconsiderable sum to make this change for the better, so we need to include it here as a stretch goal. Once we reach this stretch goal, we'll be able to ensure that all Studio X Wet Palettes have this feature, without raising the price of the Studio X products for you, our supporters.

How do we get to this stretch goal? Well, there are a couple of ways. The first is to bring more awesome supporters to join the Studio X community by sharing the campaign with your friends and gaming and painting groups. The second is to see if there's something in the Add-Ons list that you'd like to add on to your pledge. The third method is for those who might currently be  pledged at the $1 level, and that's to choose one of the very cool pledge levels available (including those limited pledges) or increase your pledge amount to cover the items that you would like from the Add-Ons.

If you're new to Kickstarter and want to add something to your pledge, here's a graphic that describes the process for doing so. If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask.

And once again, thank you for your wonderful support to get us this far. With just a few days remaining in the Kickstarter campaign, we're looking forward to finishing off with a bang!

Another Stretch Goal Achieved!
almost 4 years ago – Sat, Jul 25, 2020 at 02:16:04 AM

Thank you for your patience and support! This morning we achieved another stretch goal! Now Elizabeth is now going to dive deep into the planning and creation of the exclusive "Skintones" PDF. We're very excited to see what she creates!

Next up is the "Custom Basing" PDF from Katarzyna Górska, where she'll cover a variety of approaches and thoughts on how you can make some incredibly impactful bases for your miniatures!

Following that, we have one of our loudest champion for the Studio X, James Craig! James has been behind us from the start and has volunteered to create an exclusive PDF for us that covers "Weathering" with an emphasis on the post-apocalyptic. James has not only painted miniatures for decades, but he is an art teacher by trade. We're very happy to present this for everyone!

Other Information!

We know that many of you are waiting to hear from us on a few items, while we await particular information from our manufacturing partners. We've spent time this morning discussing these things, and have a few more chats planned, but we really want to make sure we don't over-promise.

• The Wet Palette Lid - We're trying to get pricing information from our partners about different ways we can create lids that are black with white paint wells. We're planning on introducing this Upgrade as a stretch goal so that the additional costs won't be passed on to the unit cost/retail price of the Studio X, and we hope to present it to you soon.

• Studio X Extended Travel Bag - our partners continue to work on a prototype for this bag, and we hope to be able to present it before the end of the campaign, but if we can't get the details before then, we WILL include it in the pledge manager. We want it to be great quality and don't want to unnecessarily rush things. The factory working on it is the same factory that creates bags for Game Haul.

• Lumen count for the Light - we are waiting on a response from the light manufacturer, and we hope to have that soon. We know it's bright, but we'd love to have the technical specs for just how bright it is.

We are very excited about where we are at and where the Studio X is headed, and your support  is definitely appreciated. You're helping bring this dream to life!

Cheers

1500 Backers!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jul 24, 2020 at 08:04:06 PM

Overnight you wonderful people have pushed us across two lines - the first was our next stretch goal and the second was the 1500 backers milestone! Thank you all for your support!

We can now add the Livestream from the awesome Don Suratos to the list of free things our backers will receive! We're very excited to see how Don tackles this iconic ship from one of our favorite universes.

New Stretch Goal revealed!

Next up is an exclusive PDF for free from renowned painter Elizabeth Beckley-Bradford, who is part of the Miniature Monthly team. You can check out their Facebook page HERE. Elizabeth will be taking us through her award-winning approach to painting skintones.

Following Elizabeth's PDF stretch goal, we have another spectacular painter joining our Studio X community - Katarzyna Górska! Katarzyna is from Poland and not only has a wonderful style that combines smooth blends with extreme contrasts, but she really goes all out on her custom bases. This exclusive PDF will cover a number of her approaches and techniques for getting the most out of the basing experience! Here are some more examples of Katarzyna's work, and you can find here Facebook page HERE.

Adding on Add-Ons

We've had a couple of questions from some of our backers wondering how best to go about adding on the Add-Ons (particularly the light). Here's a handy graphic that describes the process of how you can increase your pledge amount (while retaining the pledge level of your choice).

Thank you all again for your support. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Cheers
