Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Final Stretch Goal!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 28, 2020 at 10:06:54 PM

Thank You!

Again, we say "Thank You!" to everyone who has supported us in bringing the Studio X to life!

We've raced past the "final" Stretch Goal - the excellent PDF from Erik Swinson on Textures - and because John always likes to have something up his sleeve, we're adding one, real, actual, final stretch goal! Because actions speak louder than words, we wanted to say thank you by offering up the $WHATEVER goal. So, whatever we reach by the end of the campaign (as long as it's higher than Erik's goal) we'll give everyone another great tutorial PDF from the guys at the Chestnut Ink blog (found HERE).  In this exclusive PDF the team will talk about the ways they apply water and ice to their bases and dioramas. Every backer will receive this absolutely FREE!

This won't be the final update of the day, John and Sissy are looking forward to sending out an update once things close out tonight. :)

A little bit of housekeeping

We thought we'd take this time to go over the next steps. Tonight, when the Kickstarter closes, KS will start charging your cards. Over the next couple of weeks we'll be building the BackerKit pledge manager and once we have it ready, we'll send out the surveys/invitations to the pledge manager so that you can start selecting your Add-ons and squaring up for shipping. BackerKit allows for using Paypal instead of your credit/debit cards if you'd prefer that too.

We'll also be working with our manufacturing partners to keep you up to date on progress (and on the Extended Travel Bag) so that you have the information you need.

As always, If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers

And you've passed another Stretch Goal!

Artist Stretch Goals!

Congratulations! Thank you to everyone who has joined us recently, and thank you to everyone who has been sharing our campaign far and wide! We have passed the next stretch goal - the Livestream with James and Cathy Wappel of Windy City Miniatures (visit their Facebook page HERE).

As we mentioned in the update yesterday, we have been helped along this journey by a LOT of very talented people, and this is our opportunity to thank them and bring them to the notice of miniatures painters all around the globe. Alfonso 'Banshee' Giraldes is in Spain, James and Cathy are in Chicago, and the painter featured in our next stretch goal - Don Suratos (check out his Facebook page HERE) - is based in The Philippines!

Our new artist stretch goal is a little bit different in that it isn't a livestream but rather a PDF exclusive to the Studio X Kickstarter and FREE for all backers. Our artist is Elizabeth Beckley-Bradford, part of the Miniature Monthly team that has a fantastic Patreon (visit their Facebook page HERE). Elizabeth has painted a wide variety of minis in her time, and demonstrated along the way that she has an amazing grasp on painting skin and various skintones. This PDF will cover Elizabeth's thoughts about creating great depth in skintones, as well as providing 4-5 different skintone step-by-steps to really help lift your skin game.

The Extended Travel Bag

We have mentioned the Extended Travel Bag before, and its design is currently being finalized. We expect to have more details on either Thursday or Friday of this week, at which time we'll be able to show you what it will look like and hopefully provide a price. Thanks in advance for your patience on this one. We're just as excited to see the final renders!

Cheers

Almost there!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 28, 2020 at 01:35:01 PM

We're almost there and we've achieved another stretch goal! Thank you everyone who has joined us in the past few hours, and thank you to everyone else for spreading the word!

We have spoken with the team at Chestnut Ink and locked in the black armor PDF, now we're on to the Textures PDF from Erik Swinson!

The Extended Travel Bag

Breaking news! I've just received an email from John. It looks like we're aiming for a $25-30 price point on the Extended Travel Bag that will definitely hold the Studio X AND the Studio X-40 LED Light kit, plus a few other things. It'll still be a week or so before we have final details and it WILL be in the pledge manager, but if you wanted to, you could add another $10-15 to your pledges which would get us closer to that stretch goal for Erik's PDF. Of course, should we get to the pledge manager and you decide you don't want the Extended Travel Bag, you can always use that money towards your shipping. Every body wins!

Thank you all for your support! We're very excited to see how far you've helped us bring this campaign!

Cheers

The Final 13 Hours!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 28, 2020 at 01:14:53 PM

The Final Day is here, and despite several hours of Kickstarter outages yesterday, we have all managed to achieve another stretch goal! Congratulations, everyone! We'll now be working with Shoshie Bauer of Shoshie's Magnificent Mini Painting. Shoshie will be presenting a livestream later in the year on her approaches to True Metallic Metals. We will be recording the livestream for those who aren't able to see it live.

What can we achieve in the final 13 hours?

Not only have we achieved Shoshie's stretch goal, but we're halfway to the Chestnut Ink stretch goal! Once we achieve that, we'll be hearing from the Chestnut Ink team for a detailed PDF on how to achieve the shiny black armor look that adds sooo much depth to black!

And finally, we're bringing in a cheeky stretch goal to see if we can get over the $200,000 mark. Erik Swinson is an amazing miniatures painter who has spent time with many skilled artists, learning their techniques and approaches, blending them to develop his own style that is winning him awards. Erik will create an exclusive PDF for us that covers texture, and how to achieve a variety of them to increase the depth and contrasts on your minis.

We need your help!

We don't have much time left, but we need everyone to join us in our final push to be able to bring to you all the stretch goals we're showing! We're confident your help can get us over the line, by sharing the campaign everywhere you can.

Thank you all so much for your support!

Update on the Extended Travel Bag

It looks like we will not have any more information on the Extended Travel Bag today, and we know that many of you are waiting on that info. We can tell you that we WILL be including it in the BackerKit pledge manager and it WILL fit both the Studio X and the Studio X-40 LED Light, and it will be a quality product.

Cheers

We've Unlocked the White Wells!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 28, 2020 at 04:07:50 AM

Congratulations, everyone! We had a great boost yesterday and have been able to unlock the white wells for the lid of the Studio X Wet Palette. Mixing washes and glazes will be much easier now, achieving our goal of always looking for improvements to functionality and efficiency!

We have two stretch goals lined up now for us to knock down over the next 33 or so hours of the campaign. Our next is a livestream from Shoshie Bauer where she'll walk us through the various approaches she has to painting in a True Metallic Metal (TMM) style - an approach that uses metallic paints and blends it with the concepts featured in the Non-Metallic Metals (NMM) style.

Following Shoshie's livestream, we have a very focused PDF from the team at the French blog Chestnut Ink. The guys will teach us how to paint shiny black armor (like the Primaris Space Marine in the image above) and give a few tips on how to transfer the method to other colors too. Very cool!

Just 33 hours to go!

We've said it before and we'll say it again, it has been a wonderful journey. From Sissy's and John's original concepts to their industrial design renders to hitting Kickstarter, learning some great points, and now returning for this successful campaign. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support, your feedback, and your enthusiasm!

Now let's get out there and spread the word for another day!

Cheers
