Latest Updates from Our Project:

Project update and shipping
about 3 years ago – Sun, Mar 28, 2021 at 01:48:35 AM

We've spent the last week trying to get firm answers from our manufacturers, suppliers, and freight forwarders so we can give everyone a better estimate on a shipping date. We basically received the same answers for all of them that things are changing by the day and they cannot guarantee set dates.

Right now any shipping or manufacturing, even domestic is suffering from either delays or material shortages.  Even the massive companies like GW cannot keep product in stock.  Three days ago a a radio commercial for General Motors came on air and stated that manufacturing delays were happening but they had plenty of "in stock"  vehicles.

Material shortages are causing manufacturers to adjust their production que,  even effecting printing and packaging.

We have 5 small projects going right now that normally would have been completed and already in stores/available.  One is our Rust, Dirt, and Damage weathering pencil set.  We started the project last September and were told that we would have product in hand early December.  We just received the initial small shipment to send for reviews and promotion today.  We had 150 sets send via air freight (very expensive) just to get some here ahead of the main shipment. They went missing for over five weeks! The freight forwarder blamed the airline and the airline blamed the freight forwarder so it's been a circus trying to resolve.  The majority of delays is due to shipping times. Getting samples in to test and check everything is taking four to five times longer. Normally seven to ten days maximum has turned into four to six weeks.  The delays slowly started to increase mid October last year and have gotten worse since.

Another issue we are seeing is cargo damage due to mishandling by the whole shipping industry. Airlines, freight forwarders, trucking companies and even the postal service.  The pictures below are our small weathering pencil order. I've spoken with other companies, insurance adjusters for Fed-Ex, and manufacturers,  the push to get product out and delivered has caused a large spike in claims due to mishandling.

With the pandemic coming back around and countries closing down again, the postal service is blocking incoming and outgoing packages to multiple regions and the list is growing.

We aren't trying to discourage anyone or make excuses, we just want to let you know what we are dealing with on our end so you understand the reasons for the delays.  To be very blunt it's a shit show trying to time anything, and making sure you receive a quality, undamaged pledge is what's most important.

Two weeks ago the manufacturer sent the 1st Studio X sample with the upgrades for review. It is supposed to arrive late this week (hopefully). When it arrives we will test, quality check and update with pictures and info. I know a firm date is what everyone wants but with the way things are changing daily, we would just be guessing. We are hoping for mid to late June and are researching alternative shipping/distribution methods that make sense.  As we have stated before we are in it for the long haul. When planning the project if someone would have told us a worldwide pandemic was going to get dropped into the mix we would have thought it was a joke. But here we are and again apologies for the delays.

If you want to google pandemic shipping delays, manufacturing material shortages, international  mail disruptions, global supply chain issues, or overseas restrictions on parcels it is an eye opener.

The videos and pdf's are still coming! They are taking a bit longer but again quality stuff.

Thanks

Update and info (please read)
about 3 years ago – Tue, Mar 16, 2021 at 08:43:15 PM

Over the last three weeks, we've had quite a bit of personal things to handle, and I apologize for the delay in updates. I'm not one for putting personal info on social media, but our backers have trusted us and deserve an explanation. We decided to move our home and business for multiple reasons. First, we are empty nesters in a large house that we use 30% - 40% of the space. The second is getting better set to handle all the projects, fulfillment, and support for our backers and customers. We're bringing on staff to help with some of the back ends, invoicing, logistics, website, and product development.

Between moving 1200 miles, putting down our 14-year-old dog, losing a family member, and getting set back up again in the new location over the last three weeks, it's been a bit rough, but we are still here. It will be another week or two before we are back at 100% as we are unpacking and adjusting.

As far as the manufacturing, logistics, and shipping, unfortunately, it's still a bit of a mess. I have multiple emails and messages to take care of and will keep the updates coming asap. I just wanted to get this out quickly now that we are settling in.

Thank you.

Finally we have a winner.

After over 3 months of having multiple (30) wet palette paper samples sent to us we have a winner.

One of the easiest parts of the project turned into quite a project. The picture is sample #29a and #30b

both a major improvement over past samples. After an hour though sample A (bottom) started to bleed through just a bit where I mixed the purple and pink. Sample B (top) held up through all our testing and is our winner.

We have received quite a few messages from our suppliers about material shortages, material cost increases, supply chain issues, and shipping/logistics issues currently happening. Its all due to the 1st round of covid and all the shutdowns. Chinese new year is officially over so we are pressing for answers

and hope to get back on track soon. We will keep up with the updates as news comes in.

Thank you to all of you for being patient. Getting even simple things done during the current world issues has become difficult, and takes much more time than it should. Hopefully soon we will all be back to normal.

If you haven't had a chance head over to the Brush Beast Facebook page for our painting competition.

Thanks

Project update please read!

This update is going to be a bit long winded but please read the whole update.

Over the last 2 weeks we've been working to hurry things up and get enough done before Chinese new year hits. At the moment things are a bit of a mess in China with material shortages, logistics and freight forwarding. Over the last 3 months receiving samples has taken longer each time and now we are still waiting on a small air freight shipment that was supposed to arrive 2.5  weeks ago.

Here in the United states we are dealing with labor shortages, and slow postal due to the pandemic, and business closures. Our friends over in Europe are dealing with the same plus all the issues with Brexit.

Simple things like the wet palette paper samples are taking three to four times as long as they should to get to us and its causing delays. We are roughly 4 to 5 weeks behind our original schedule at the moment. We put a big push in over the last few weeks but it doesn't look like we are going to meet the Chinese new year mark for the schedule. It would have given us an advantage and we could have gained some time back.

The short answer is we will need to push the shipping date out. I'm not going to give a firm date as it seems every time we plan on something lately it changes quickly. We are hoping if things improve 6 to 8 weeks. We wont cut corners to just get product to you and say we fulfilled our project. This is an update we were hoping to never have to post but with all of the issues worldwide its needed. I know the disappointment as we all are excited and waiting but please understand its not from a lack of us pushing.

For some good news, the design and mechanical engineers are really hitting the mark. The new wet palette design is fantastic. We printed a prototype as it was quick (not waiting 3 to 4 weeks for samples) and really like the side latches, and rounded out ink/wash wells. They also added the smaller hex slots in the four lid corners so the wet palettes stack and lock together during transport.

We also have the Brush Beast painting competition going on Facebook. With Vallejo, Matter Hackers, Dwarven Forge, Hobby Mate, Game Envy, New England 3D Artworks, Punished Games, and Ouroboros Miniatures joining us as sponsors we have some amazing prizes to be had.

We will keep you updated as always and appreciate everyone's patience. The most important thing to us is ensuring we deliver the highest quality project possible.

Thank you.
